WAYS TO GIVE

MEET OUR DONORS

William and Dot Stone created a charitable gift annuity in September of 2005. They share with us the twelve reasons they have made such a gift for the future of PPh:

1. It is like buying a Certificate of Deposit, only with a much better rate of interest, and with the knowledge that when we are gone, the money will help our Home.

2. At the same time, we are getting a tax deduction in the year that we made the gift.

3. The gift continues to pay us once a year for life (the payout we determined) and cannot be attached.

4. We love PPh, our new and last home, to where we are giving the gift. We want to show our love and appreciation.

5. We love all the people we live with and pass by in the halls and speak to every day. We, who make up our Home, have promised each other that nobody will have to leave because their money has run out. Our gift will help us to keep that promise to each other.

6. Maybe, just maybe, a gift made by a past donor, might just come back to help us sometime in the future.

7. We have great confidence in the United Church Foundation which administers our conditional gift to our Philadelphia Protestant Home.

8. Diane Nawn made the paperwork so simple. We really have nothing to do but tell her what we want to do.

9. Everybody in Administration and the Board are so grateful for our gift.

10. The recipients of these types of gifts are also so grateful. We know, of course, that they are not able to say “thank you” to us directly.

11. We feel so good for having made the gift.

12. It is the right thing to do.

[PHOTO] Dot Hood, another Heritage Society member, who created a charitable gift annuity has this to say:

If you had asked me a year ago why I would invest in The Heritage Society of PPh, I would not have had an answer. Today, I look back on my decision and feel it was a very sound one for me. I am not abundantly endowed, nor am I extremely frugal. But when I learned about those who are helped by The Heritage Society members when they have nothing, I knew this was something I could do to help. In return for my investment, I receive income every quarter. The plan I chose will also benefit the Benevolent Care fund of PPh in the future.

One of the gifts God gave me is the ability of service. Helping others is the main reason I chose to be a part of The Heritage Society.
