Personal Care, The Philadelphia Protestant Home

In Personal Care, you will find accommodations that the resident may furnish with mementos and items that provide a warm and homey atmosphere. Each room comes with a refrigerator/freezer and a 32" flat screen TV. As with all PPh services, our staff is committed to ensuring you receive care, comfort, and convenience. Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants are on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your medical needs.

Emphasis is placed on maintaining each resident's abilities and dignity. Each Personal Care floor has a private dining room where three meals are served restaurant-style daily. There is also a lounge where residents can engage in a host of activities designed to encourage socialization and interaction. If necessary, we can remind residents of activities and assist them to and from.

Several levels of care are available:

This level of care offers a wide range of services, including medication management, minimal assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming, 3 meals daily, laundry, housekeeping, and a full activities program to promote socialization. Licensed nursing professionals and Certified Nursing Assistants provide support as needed.

This level of care includes all Personal Care services and focuses on the increased needs of the resident, including moderate assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming. Additionally, Enhanced Care provides redirection, verbal cueing, increased room visits, incontinence care, and wheelchair assist.

This is our highest level of care and is unique to PPh in that it affords a low cost alternative to nursing home care. Care Plus allows the resident to remain in Personal Care longer before needing to transition to a nursing home. In addition to providing all the services of Personal and Enhanced Care, Care Plus provides a greater staffing ratio to meet the increasing needs of the resident.

Respite Care services in our Personal Care program represent an opportunity for persons needing short-term assistance. Caregivers can be assured that their loved ones are being cared for by our friendly, capable staff while they take a needed break. It allows the resident an opportunity to experience the tenderness of our care at PPh, which often leads to a long-term care solution.

The Chapters Program at PPh is designed to address the individual needs of those with Alzheimer's or dementia-related disorders. These residents are often confused, have memory loss and a tendency to wander. Care is offered in a residential setting, which is architecturally designed to accommodate their needs. Our staff is trained to recognize and serve the physical, social and spiritual needs of the residents. Structured programs emphasizing self-dignity are designed to enhance overall quality of life.
