Dining Services

PPh Group, a specialized division of the Philadelphia Protestant Home, is dedicated to providing innovative management and consulting solutions to the health care industry. Quality care and services for aging individuals within a community is the Protestant Home’s heritage. PPh Group mirrors this image in its business practices while also supporting organizations in acute care and other health care settings.

There are many factors that impact an organization’s ability to provide affordable yet important and necessary services for residents within a community. Cuts to reimbursement, a growing senior population with increasing expectations and family dynamics that can create customer relations issues, all point to a critical need. How does an organization contain or reduce costs while enhancing and expanding services?

PPh Group offers an array of supportive services in a variety of business lines. One of the core services is our distinctive and unique alternative to traditional Management Contracting for your Dining Services Program. With more than 30 years experience in the field, we know how to develop a successful program by utilizing the skills and experience of PPh’s management team. This team provides you with proven systems, expert management tools, a cost-effective creative operation, and proven leadership, whether you have a management company or are self-op. Our professional staff will live and breathe in the trenches with you everyday. Peer-to-Peer we work together in developing customized programs and services to meet the exact needs of an organization.

PPh Group is sincere in its desire to form partnerships with peer organizations while becoming part of your continued growth and success.

The Self-Op Model

Management companies have not cornered the market on talented people or the best vendor prices. With the right expertise, the application of sound management principles and operational standards, the fees associated with contract companies cease to exist. Instead you get to manage your own department and let the savings drop to the bottom line or reinvest it where it can do the most good for your organization.

At the Philadelphia Protestant Home, we have proven that expenses can be reduced while improving services and quality through our self-op model. The bottom line was reduced $1.9M in five years since going self-op while revenue increased 43%.

The Dining Service’s arm of PPh Group can offer an array of services that you choose from. We truly believe that a conversion to self-op is the most cost-effective way to manage and control expenses while improving services and enhancing quality. If your organization prefers a step-by-step method of achieving this ultimate goal, we have the resources available to help you do this.

We work directly with your organization in converting from a contract service to managing it in-house. The PPh Team works with you for the length of time and in a capacity as determined by you, the customer.

  • Eliminate the fees and service charges.
  • Reduce non-productive salary expenses.
  • Increase your revenue streams and expand your a-la-carte operations.
  • Vendor procurement rebates come directly to you.
  • Pay only for the services you want without hidden expenses that translate into increased profits for the contractor.
  • Have direct control and autonomy over how the department is run.
  • Institute a completely fresh food program without an increase in costs.
  • Pay for management support in an a-la-carte fashion.
  • The management team is on your payroll working to meet your organization’s goals and mission statement.
